About the Animals Corp

Karina Goldenberg is the Founding Executive Director of About the Animals. Her animal rescue journey started in Rome, Italy in 2002, where she volunteered and later worked as a veterinary technician in a shelter with over one thousand dogs. 

In 2014, with over 12 years of experience, Karina founded her first nonprofit animal rescue organization in Miami, FL, which is still in operation. 

Karina is a passionate rescuer and animal welfare advocate.  Below is part of her speech at the Miami-Dade County Budget Meeting, that took place on September 7, 2023, in the presence of Mayor Daniella Levin Cava and all the County's Commissioners: 

"I am an animal rescuer at heart and have been active for over 20 years. I will always be on the ground and in charge of rehabilitating animals in need.  However, my vision goes beyond the mere rescuing, sheltering and finding homes for many animals, while many others sit in shelters, are killed, or die on the streets.  My purpose is to tackle the root cause of animal overpopulation.  My heart is in rescue, my intellect is in strategy. The current crisis in animal welfare in Miami-dade is abundantly clear: This dramatic situation calls for a comprehensive change."

And change is what Karina will bring about with The KGolden Stray Cat Project to be beta tested starting November 2023, in Biscayne Park, FL.
